"Djan" or Jean de Nivelles is a symbol of the city of Nivelles. This automaton was given to the city by Charles the Bold, duc of Burgundy, in the XVth century. At the top of the tower of Sainte Gertrude collegiate church, he is holding a hammer to ring the bells and strike the hours.
