Build by the Germans during the second world war, the flying ground of Melsbroek moved to a civil use in 1947 and officialy inaugurauted as a new airport on the 21th of July 1948. The visits of the airport with degustation of a drink on the flat roof of the cafe "Mère Avia" dated 1951.
