Founded by Julius Meier-Graefe and the publisher H. Bruckmann, the monthly magazine Dekorative Kunst appeared for the first time in Munich in October 1897. Its aim was to promote German industrial art productions to the public, following the example of the London magazine "Le Studio". Among the contributors, Henry Van de Velde and Théo van Russelberghe.
